I love your new addition Paula! When I first got ill (those many many years ago) my dad smuggled a ****atiel into my room....as my mum is terrified of birds! But it was so sweet of him cos he knew I loved them (my Yorkshire uncles bred them and were in on the plan) and he also knew how lonely I was. Mum had to get used to the idea but refused to set foot in my room after that - which I was quite happy about. He was the white one, should remember the name but brain fog it bad....and I called him Frankie. He did begin to talk a bit and would fly around the room and land on my shoulder.
When I got married he came with me and we took on another ****atiel,a pearl one this time, that needed a good home. OH built an outside aviary and we actually bred once, which was amazing. Unfortunately the Pearl was attacked by an owl or a fox through the wire, we found her one morning with one leg....but alive. We brought her inside and she lived for 2 more years, happily hopping around and keeping me company. I do miss them.
I just keep wondering what else you are going to add to your menagerie before this baby arrives!!!

Ooooooo....I love birdies (as you can tell form my signature) They are such great company. I had a ****ie many years ago and he loved the dishcloth, no accounting for taste!! It was so funny when I used to clean him out because he just wanted to make love to the cleaning cloth!!! He could talk for England, bless him. I miss him to this day. Mind you he could be a bit narked if anyone else wanted my attention, he was a real mummy's boy.
