Hope all goes smoothly. This may sound weird but try to enjoy it. I believe the more relaxed you are, the easier it goes after my own experience and watching a neighbour go through it (long story). Giving birth is the most incredible experience. I remember feeling really in control of the pain but worrying that it would get worse and I wouldn't be able to deal with it then. Actually, your body can cope with much more than you think and it never got too overwhelming. I would love to go through it again and try it without pain relief so I could be a little more aware of it all (I had a Meptid injection and a shed load of gas and air - I remember chewing the mouthpiece a lot and feeling decidedly drunk!!). Sadly, we only had one child so I can't go back and see if I'm remembering it all through rose coloured glasses though .
Seriously though, I really hope you have a very positive experience and are then blessed with a happy and healthy baby boy who immediately learns to sleep through the night . |

Sammy talks so much sense Twi. I know at the moment all you want to do is get William out of you and into the world!! But take these last few days....and I think they will only be a few days....to look back over this time that you have carried him inside of you, the way you have protected him and nurtured him as only a mother can. And you have done an amazing job of it, facing a number of your fears in the process.
The trick is to learn to ride the pain and in having a slow labour you are actually getting practice at doing that....rather than those who go straight into immediate strong contractions. Learn to feel it coming and breathe through it....knowing that it will end, that the pain will not be there forever. Focus on what is happening to your body through it, to your stomach muscles rippling and contracting, to the feel of your breath in and out. And when the time comes and the contractions get stronger and stronger....just focus on what is at the end of it, that you cannot hold your baby boy in your arms without going through this process....and it is a totally natural process that has been going on for thousands of years.
Focus on the fact that you are bringing a new life into this world - what a blessing is that!! Your son, to be treasured and loved, who you have carried and nurtured within you all this time and you are soon to meet him properly.
You are so much in my thoughts, my heart and prayers Twi....and may your birth be a blessed one and your baby be strong and healthy....as that is all that is important.

Just an update to say hes still not here, I wouldnt mind but I'm not sleeping well through the contractions so its making me a bit grumbley and complainy lol The contractions are coming more often but not regular. Because of my heart problem midwife wants me to go in as soon as contractions become regular and i think I'm in established labour so that they can monitor me, which probably means i'll be stuck in hospital for longer than I'd like lol but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. Specially since my aunt never dialted past 4cm with both her kids so she needed a cesarean, though the idea of being awake and aware while someone cuts me open makes me feel a bit faint @.@
With the heart problem, they are refering me to Liverpool, apparently I have a sensitive part of my heart which is causing the palpapatations/fast heart rate so they gonna refer me up there after baby is born (not looking forward to that long journy with a baby but least it will take a while for the referal to go through) they're gonna find the sensitive part of my heart then desensitize it with radiopheropy (at least thats what my mum thinks he said, i couldn't understand him and she struggled cause of his heavy accent and fast talking @.@) but assuming that works that would be my problem fixed. |

Just got back from hospital, they told me to go in cause i was having regular contractions they said if I was dilated enough they would break my waters and get things moving, if I wasn't I'd probably sent home. So we got there they put me on monitor i was deffinatly having contractions but not strong enough, baby was moving fine and his heart beats fine, but I'd only dilated another 1cm in the four days since the midwife checked me so she said I could either go stay there or go home. I decided to go home cause even though she thinks it could be very soon (maybe even tonight) I'd rather not take the risk of days in hospital waiting for him to come when I could be more relaxed at home lol. So come home now, just waiting for contractions to get stronger or waters to break @.@ |

You made the right decision Rachell....you will be a lot happier at home as long as you can get to the hospital when you need to, and I am sure your mum is monitoring your progress closely! I do hope you dont need your waters breaking....not pleasant I have heard, but if it is necessary then so be it.
But you are nearly there....can you believe it !! In fact, by the time you read this you may have baby William in your arms and not need to try any of Jase's suggestions (hopefully not!!)....although the bumpy road, hot curry and I have heard that raspberry tea also works. Or you could wear your best knickers (sod's law will ensure that your waters break in them ).
Am praying for you Twi.

lol mum tried the speed bumps on the way home to try moving things on, she was like "I know its bad for the car but if it gets things moving!!" everyone keeps telling the bump to get a move on lmao Well he's still not here this morning, but I think the contractions are becoming slowly more uncomfortable. Knowing my luck he will wait until a few hours before I'm due to go in to get induced on wednesday lmao |

I definitely agree Twi! My daughter wasnt coming out very easily so they decided she needed some help, opened all the sterile equipment to do a Ventouse delivery....were standing ready with the suction cup....when out she came with a rush ! A relief for me after all that fuss I can tell you!
I know it is frustrating and uncomfortable....but he will come and all that matters is that he is ok and you are ok.
Hang in there (well, it is not as though you have any choice !).

Been having contractions since 5am, they happening every 5 mins and lasting roughly 1 minute and getting to the point where i have to stop if im walking to wait for it to pass. Gonna call labour ward after shift change over and see if I should go in yet but if I'm lucky they'll take me in and this'll be the real thing o: |
