There is a topic in DIY section about preparing wooden sticks etc for the vivarium.

Can you use any sticks that you find in a forest etc?

Is there any wood that you cant use?

Thanks

Cheers Black Echo, were they just sticks that you found in woodland or a forest etc?

Do you know what wood they are?

Thanks

They look like just normal branch wood off a tree from a woodland or forest.

Sorry, no idea what they are. I just stay away from soft wood/pines/conifers.

Why do you stay away from pines mate?

Any reason?

Ive just been stick hunting and got a really nice looking piece, similar to one in your photos. It was in a forest with loads of pine trees though, so im guessing its pine.

Thanks

The sap in Pines gives off Phenols which are toxic to snakes.

Oh dear. Thanks.

Can this sap still be released after the wood has dried?

Cheers

Its the same reason you can't use sawdust or Hamster shavings for substrate.

I'm not sure whether it will ever be safe, I wouldn't risk it myself personally.

To be honest she is fairly certain she is going to go over her due date, i dont know how she knows but she says its a woman thing, lol.
