I wash them off after they're dead, and freeze them for 2 weeks. |

If you freeze it the parasites die and yes they can bite and scratch your snake.
so no internal and external parasites can survive the cold then? like cold UK winters? how on earth do they repopulate in the spring i wonder? and you haven't covered fresh-killed......

Wild caught mice are a no no, they carry all sorts of parasites and diseases, and freezing is gonna do absolutely nothing, let alone washing them! lol. Using wild caught food is how you introduce things like pin worm and other nasties, nasties that you wont even know about until the snake is really quite ill from them, as for diseases, well, chances are you wont even know what the disease is until the PM. Dont use wild caught stuff, its asking for trouble, i stopped using wild shot rabbits for that same reason, and the fact that the snake that was eating said rabbits died, and i didnt have a clue what it was, and still dont as i couldnt afford a PM at the time, all i know is it wasnt parasites, but that doesnt mean it wasnt a disease.
You want a reason not to do it?? learn from my mistake, it cost me a stunning Suriname Boa, she was worth in excess of 500 quid and that doesnt include the babies she may have been carrying! |

a bit OT but what i don't understand is that people do routinely worm cats, dogs, rabbits, horses etc so why not snakes? particularly ones that have been fed WC stuff? it's something i've wondered a lot about in the past as i do feed WC, especially to the big boas, i keep meaning to looking into worming them with FlagylS and Panacur. normally the expense of worming would cancel out the monetary gain from buying WC.........but then can you absolutely guarantee that farmed rabbits have had no access to fresh grass/dandelion leaves or whatever that may introduce parasites to them? |

Getting back on topic, would the smell of a f/t wild caught mouse trigger the same feeding response as a live captive bred mouse? |

dont know, not tried it. The response on a fresh killed captive bred mouse is very good, completely different to frozen d/f. |
