1.do they need a light as well as heat mat in ther viv
2.what is the best ground for its viv
3.how do you work out the appropiat size of the viv what you put the royal in

1. I don't light mine, he's in a plastic RUB inside a cardboard box so it's enclosed on all sides except the front (to make him feel more secure)
2. I use orchid bark as it's easy to use, readily available and you can create a slightly more humid environment. I also have a mist spray (99p from a garden centre) and mist the tub on average once a week.
3. length of viv + depth of viv = length of snake. Royals aren't very ative snakes and feel more secure in smaller vivs.

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos

Because of the higher humidity required for Royals you really need something that will hold the moisture but not rot or go mouldy and smelly. I've not used hemp but it's worth a try, let us know if it works!
