Looks great, the only thing I'd ask is whether your thermostat probe is staying there, and if so are you having the mat on the wall?

didn't realise, the instructions in the stat showed the probe on the back and the mat on the base. do I just lay the probe over where the mat is gonna go?

i was told to lay my probe directly on the mat.

I have my probe in my leos viv which i have used slate tiles for substrate. so it lays on top of the slate. it also controls the other mats and keeps them a little warmer cos the substrate is not as solid.

I always have the probe where the snake is going to feel the heat most, i.e. the closest it could get to the mat.

Have you got something on top of the heatmat, to stop Cecil getting to it?

Ive got a vinyl floor tile ontop of the mat, don't be fooled by cecil, he's already nearly 2' long.
the perspex came from red plastics online from ebay, it cost 9.70 and they even give the first 4 square cuts free.

I got two a3 sheets and got them to cut them down to 320 x 285 mm and they fit perfect. They were delivered by courier so no playing frisby down at the local sorting office either.
