sounds like mites but I think they tend to be smaller than fleas (either that or my cats get GIANT fleas when they pick them up!) You could initially try bathing your snake in luke warm/tepid water and holding it under the water WITH IT'S HEAD/NOSTRILS STILL EXPOSED - don't hold it all under it'll drown! Then wipe it's head when you get it out as all the mites will naturally go to the bit of the snake above water. There are various topical treatments you can buy from your rep shop or online too. Some people use Frontline sprayed onto a towel then let the snake work it's way through the towel getting coated in the stuff in the process. Main problem with Frontline seems to be the fumes. Whichever you decide you'll need to give the viv and everything in it a damn good cleaning too, and dispose of the substrate in there or the mites will just reinfest your snake. |

Sorry to hear that mate, but GP's advice is sound. I know people who use Frontline with no problems, but others frown upon it. |

They could be from the substrate ?
Are you using forest bark or something like that.
Doesn't sound like mites...... |

I know that I was recommended to give all my bedding etc. a quick blast in the microwave when I first put it in, kills any little blighters. |

Soak in disinfectant overnight then leave to dry on a radiator or in an oven at ~100C. |
