I'm thinking of making a hide, water bowl and food bowl for my beardies when i get them, but i was wodnering what varnish to use so it wouldnt leech int othe water.
im gonna use polystyrene (however you spell it) and layer it, contour it etc, then paint it to make it look like a rock then varnish it.
any advice on what varnishes to use? thanks!

safe varnish i have no idea. personaly i wouldnt use it as it tends to crack and flake over time. especially wen viv will be warmed and cooled and misted.etc.
as for hides with my geckos i use old slate and flat rock found in my garden and build it in to a natural hide. henri loves his plus keeps his nails down.
cool ok. I've decided I', gonna make a rock shelf with a hide food bowl and water bowl built in from polystyrene covered in tile cement so it won't leech and it'll provide a rock-like consistancy to keep it's nails down :)
