Hey there, just been informed that our corn snake has apparently died overnight. I'm just trying to find out how you can tell if a corn snake is dead? I only ask (it should be obvious) because I don't want to risk burying him alive *shudder*. Is there anyway to make sure? |

Im sorry to hear that. Check for any *tiny* sings of movement. Maybe try and provoke (<spelt right?) a reaction by tapping it very lighly on the nose? |

Don't know if he's stiff, I may be a wuss but i'd rather not go near a dead snake, rat's I can handle but not snakes. I shall relay this information and see what happens. I reckon he's dead myself but it's always best to make sure. |

Should be floppy if dead & if you open the mouth it may not close. The snake will also smell bad with in 24 hours, like.... ....death

Yuh opened where he was being kept, stank lol Saying that, when he was alive (we've had him a few months) that always started to smell after a few days and had to be aired out, even when there was excrement or anything in the viv. Could that be a sign that he was ill? Also the eggs that he and two of our females had (he was a stud xD) haven't survived, i've been told that can happen with a first clutch more often than not, but could it be a sign that he was ill? |

I guessed but my knowledge of snakes is very limited so it seemed pertinent to ask. |
