If the lights are just for viewing & not for an additional heat source have that on a timer. Plug the heatmat into the thermostat. I would get either a 100w matstat (dimming) or a pulse 300w proportional.
The (dimming) matstat is a simple on/off thermostat, able to cope easily with a few low wattage mats connected to it.
The pulse stat will control the temp more precisely buy constantly pulsing the right amount to keep the temp more stable & accurate.
I'm a bit confused aswell as i am buying everything for the first time lol. I have bought the tank and heatmat which is a Exo-terra desert heatwave mat which is 11" x 17" / 27.9 x 43.2cm 25 Watts. What should be ok for this.
thanks guys think im gonna go with the habistat 100w mat stat. seems to be wot im looking for. just to regulate my mat, heard a few bad storys about them burning out and/or cracking the bottom of my glass viv.
will use it for my leos as im having a swap around.
