I think alot of people should see royals feeding before they buy them if the shop refuses for whatever reason or a viewing before purchase on the feeding day can't be arranged, then there should have to be an agreement between you & the owner that if the snake doesn't feed after purchase & all your captive requirements are correct then you could take it back until it feeds or have a refund instead.
I know it's probably too late for you to do that now, but just an idea for anyone else that's all. |

I've had Queenie my CF08 Royal a week now and I was assured at the shop he'd been feeding well but missed his last feed due to blue-eye before shedding. He shed last Thursday so I tried him with a fuzzy on Friday - no interest whatsoever I tried again on Sunday, still no interest, not so much as a sniff despite leaving it in his warm hide for 24 hours. I blame my own stupidity as the nice bloke at Snakes n Adders in Leeds told me DON'T buy a Royal unless you've seen it feed..... but this stripey Royal (in a different pet shop) was sooooo lovely that good advice went straight out of my head! |

I know what you mean when you see something you like it draws you in, but it doesn't mean it's a disaster. royals can get stressed easy & dont really like alot of interaction especially when young which is why i think many other people have problems with their feeding. dont give up though it's early days yet. when it gets to a month then start to worry. did you have a look at the medicine links i put up i cant remember who i put them up for though (sorry) they're on here somewhere though & may help. |

Queenie's active and seems as happy as a snake can be, I think I'm just expecting problems as I ignored the good advice. It's a bit different to the corns that will eat anything at any time, Birch has put on 110g in the last month (but I have been building her back up again after laying) she's like a dustbin, lol |

Corns are, that's why they are easy.
If the other snakes you've got to worry about. The royal, the king and the hoggie are constant sources of worry. The 4 corns are little angels in comparison. |
