Probably the only way is to buy direct from a breeder or private seller rather than a shop, unless the shop owner can show you the parents as well.
Have a look on preloved or the classifieds on the reptileforums.co.uk

Well we tried to coax her to eat and she's just not interested so we decided to force feed her not my ideal way of doing things but at least shes got something inside her tummy, i left her for two days in the dark and today she is more alert loads of tongue flicking so we are gonna try her again tomorrow, i will keep you all posted |

hi all sorry not posted any news, but their seems to be an improvement on pepsi, she has been force feed twice now once a week although she didn't quite know what to do with it they seemed to go down nicely, she has brightened up alot and seems alot more alert and very active, still likes to come out when she can, although i am trying to keep he in her viv as much as possible to give her some time on her own, tommorrow will be week three of feeding, so hopefully she will take it on her own if not back to force feeding. i will let you know, good news my friend has purchased pepsi's brother today, so i know that he is going to be ok but he is completely different strike feeding no problem, so pepsi must just be one of the awkward ones, since my first post, i have learnt that it is quite legal for these snakes to be brought into the contry, and that they get $1 for every snake egg!!!!! but i think its more the manner on how they have been handled and not feed properly so they are hungry scared and extremely traurmatised, anyway i will keep you posted. |

well still no change on pepsi with eating tried all sorts of food no go, took her to the vets he checked her over and said that despite her not eating she is ok just very under weight, so we are still force feeding, however she tends to open her mouth easier now and no trying to spit it out and other mice go in following the first, i have added NUTROBAL as recommended by my vets for extra vitamins and minerals so we will see how she goes. i will keep you all posted.

On the last bank holiday i bought a young royal that i believe`d to have been `cb 08` as that what the shop told me, he also told me that he had been fed a few times as had the other 3 they had and all was well, however mine has refused food since the very start and although very active and alert still wouldn`t eat. Then last week i went back to the shop to buy some equipment and the discovered that the owner of the shop was on holiday and one of the assistants let slip that none of the remaining royals had ever eaten. Is it more important to shops to tell lies so they can make a sale rather than the welfare of the snakes. I should never have been sold this snake although last night he took a fuzzie with a little assisted feeding. |
