Are snakes supposed to like or hate baths because Skittles wont go near water at all like to bathe or anything. He hates it and i saw pics of snakes like sitting in the water quite happily, skittles gets in water and all he wants to do is get out. Its not too deep and is only luke warm so thats not the problem. So are snakes supposed to like or hate them or how can i make him like it?

Depends on the snake. Corns are proficient swimmers and some do seem to enjoy being in the water. I give my big male a bath every 2 weeks for exercise more than enjoyment, and after a couple of minutes will always try to get out, mainly by grabbing the chain for the plug and winding around it.

Perservere with Skittles, it sounds like you are doing things right with regards to temp and depth. If you are doing it in the bath, use a hand to gentle guide him away from the edges and make sure he has a good swim.

Good luck!

Hi Hayley. Some corns like baths and some dont. You cant make them like baths, just persevere with it. I would test the water with a digital thermometer. It might feel luke warm to you but it will be a lot hotter for snakey.

Can i just ask why you need to bath him,is having trouble shedding?Snakes dont need baths unless they have trouble with shedding or are covered in mess,it can be very stressful for some.

Bella absolutely HATES getting wet in any way whatsoever! We've decided no more swimming for her because it really stresses her out - I really wanted a swimming snake too bah!!
