I have heard you can sex a snake by the shape of its tail! Is this true? What will I be looking for? |

its not very accurate, but the way i see it is a males tail is long skinny taper and the females have a shorter tail and it tapers off quickly
think thats what it is lol

NEVER go on the asumption of the tail though; due to un reliability. best way to get it probed. |

With regards to probing...Im considering getting mine done as im thinking about possibly breeding in the future. Can it be harmful to my snake in any way? Will it cause undue stress? Who else has had thiers probed that can talk me throught the process? |

i have had 3 of mine probed and they did'nt even flinch,it's just a thin metal probe that has some lube applied to it then inserted into the vent and gently pushed in the direction of the tail,if done properly theres no risk. |

Most competent rep stores should be able to probe your snake for you. It's much easier to tell by tail size and shape in older specimens because the reproductive organs are fully developed.
I can look at Alice's tail and she is quite honestly a definate female. But obviously, like everything else, it will differ from snake to snake!
