I followed mattys instructions and made a new hide for cash.
I followed the same instructions but used 4 cups of flour. It took 5 hours on setting S on my fan assisted gas oven to set rock solid.
It just needs a few more coats of paint to complete.

looks great. I might do that as well, when fluffy needs a larger hide. I have always sucked at creative stuff like that though. I remember doing paper mache when i was younger...

Because its salt dough it might not set properly if you try to air dry it. I guess it has to be baked to set it. Just pop in oven on a low setting and keep checking as per mattys instructions on the D.I.Y. thread. Its well worth it and well cheap to make.

i know what you meant Mick and i'm planing on doing the same *nods*

i made 2 to matty's recipe but found applying the paint made the baked dough a bit soggy again............ i used them for a few months i think then the dough went really soggy despite 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of stone effect paint

Bummer guys. I coated mine with none toxic masonary paint (leftovers) and a 2 coats of marine varnish and no probs with mould or going soggy.
I guess you have to make sure its sealed completely. Gas ovens tend to be marked from S-9 and the temps can vary especially in fan assisted ones thats why I used the lowest setting and left it till it was bone dry. I also turned it over half way through baking to insure it was set properly. Hope this helps. Air drying clay is a bit pricey compared to a bag of flour and a cup of salt! I'm a tight sod lol.............
