I would agree too, although if you get chance to look at the ingredients in fish tank silicon and in a normal silicon you might have a better idea.

no, i've recently checked this with an adhesives manufacturer. normal grade silicone continues to give off fumes/chemicals as part of it's anti-bacterial effect, this is NOT suitable for snakes. aquarium grade silicone doesn't have these long-lasting chemicals and is safe to use for reps

Not something I was prepared to take a risk with. I bought a tube of aquarium sealant.

you can use an acrylic sealant too, it has a lot less fumes than silicone and can even be painted over if you're making a fancy viv.

...and it washes off your fingers with water before it starts going off :D

This was probably down to the chemicals in it evaporating far quicker than normal kitchen/bathroom silicon

it's not the initial fumes that's the worry, it's what that normal silicon is giving off right now...........................

i thought that would of been the risk,if it left toxic fumes behind, have read that plenty of people use normal silicone, but then again you cant beleive all that you read lol.I have no problems with it and have'nt heard of any.
