Henry just shed for the first time since her op. Where the skin got cought on the stiches, she ahs removed a scale. Its a dark red/purple colour around the there is the scale shape indented in it. It looks like it could get infected, so what should i clean it with? Im guessing Tamodine?

tamodine and iodine, on deep cuts, should be kept to a minimum as it actually retards cell growth and healing..

keeps it clean yes, but stops the cells from reforming and healing as fast, im not sure how close it is to your stiches

F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment is a good 1 if you can get it

ebay does it , but it's going to be to late for you i think as you want it now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/F10-GERMICIDAL-BARRIER-OINTMENT-25g_W0QQitemZ270382647205QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET?hash=item3ef40fc7a5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

just keep to the vets advise when you 1st brought your snake home on keeping it clean and so on
and just keep an eye on it

if you are worried about it you should
consult your vets, and see what they say

they never go wrong on a week day ,allways a week end when the vets are
shut

i'd bathe it with Tamodine (an iodine that's safe for reptiles) then apply a blob of Vaseline to act as a barrier. what substrate is she on hun? would be worth changing to paper temporarily

Can't offer any advise I'm afraid, I just want to wish her well and I hope she recovers soon.

when she next looks like she's going to shed it might be helpful providing a damp hide to ease the whole process. hopefully then she'll shed without damaging the area around the surgical wound, so she'll heal quicker. glad she's generally ok though matty

Thanks all

Its healing over ok, shes having the stiches out in two weeks-ish so it shouldnt cause any problem once they're out. She will just have a cool scar that she can brag about to the other snakes
