Bella absolutely HATES having a bath it seems; she does her damn best to get out of the water the times we've had to bathe her. Unfortunately once again she's not managed to shed about two inches of her skin off her tail so we're going to have to dunk her again but I'm so worried about stressing her unduly.

Is there ANYTHING we can do to make it less traumatic? The water we're putting her in isn't too cold or too hot I don't think - about 28*C? We thought of that but it's still PANIC STATIONS whenever she goes in.

why not make a moss box?
or put a load of damp moss in 1 of her hides

or try the towel trick
put your snake in between 2 damp towels and let it crawl out a few times
or a damp pillow case

to many baths might stress your snake out

later buddy

are you supposed to/is it advised to give your cornsnake a swim/bath/rinse every so often, or just if they havent shed properly.
If you are, do they like the water be deep enough so they can swim or just sorto lie in without being underwater?

if your bathing your snake, the temp should be similar to a baby bath.

i rarely if ever bathe my snakes, and if i did, i would test the warmth of the water by dipping my elbow in...

the water should be the same temp as the warm end of the viv so around 28-30*C which will feel a little cool to us (having a body temp of 37*C)
DO check it with a thermometer, even if it means going out and buying a cheapy one for that purpose, as a TCS member had quite a poorly snake a while ago due to a bath the wrong temperature, and too cold is as bad as too hot!!

She was having real trouble shedding full stop until we put aspen shavings in her viv - her skin then came off in one night that time apart from her sodding tail. Useless snake! Look like it's moss in the hide then - she hates being rubbed, even very very gently, with the towel almost as much as she hates bath time.

Thanks all.

(wish she liked a swim because she looks so fab when she does actually do it rather than just frantically try to get out)
