I use a red light bulb hooked up to a dimmer stat for heating my corn's 3ft viv, and I was just taking a look at the tempertures, and the hot end is about 30°C whilt the cold end is about 28°C, which is much of a gradient. Does anyone else have this problem with bulbs and if so, how do you sort it so that the temperature at the cold end is cooler? |

Hi, i set up My viv for one of My corns last week. I also use an infrared on a dimmer.
My temps sit at 72 cool end and 84 warm end.
is your probe for the stat directly under the heat source ?
how many vents do you have ? you could add another one
or you could drop your temps a bit. |

I've got two circular vents, one at either side, they were fitted with the viv when I got it. This might be a stupid question, but if the solution is to fit more vents...how do I go about doing that? |

a pic, or diagram of your set-up including exactly where the heat source, thermometer and stat probe are would be very helpful janos |

There's another vent just behind the light bulb, and the thermostat probe and the thermometre probes are in the hides. |

if the vents are at the bottom i guess all the heat will be trapped since hot air rises its easy to put vents in if you have a drill etc |

That's the weird thing though, the vent on the other side that you can't see is actually at the top...
Hm, so if I drill a series of small holes in the back around the top of the cold side, would that help?

Your options:
More vets (in roof would be best) Move lamp to the right Lower bulb a few inches
If all else fails.......get a heat mat |

It gets warm, but not hot. Maybe try using a slightly lower wattage bulb if you're guard is getting hot? Alright, thanks guys for the help =) I'm aware I was asking some really ridiculous questions. Cheers |
