Hi guys, I read on here a while ago about making a moss hide to help with a shed. I'm thinking about making one and ave found a suitably sized pot (used to be an oreo pot before i devoured them yesterday) with a lid. I figure if turned upside down, with the lid still on it would make a perfect hide. I am going to cut an entrance hole and i have already bought the sphagnum moss recommended on here. But my issue is...The plastic is quite thin and, well, plasticy. Im guessing i need to smooth down the edges. But how? What can i do to make it smoother? Is there anything i can cover it with? Also how safe are things like sellotape? Obviously with sellotape i need to be careful that no sticky edges are exposed but is sellotape itself safe for the snake to be around? thanks
also new pics in the pic section: Bathtime, first fuzzy and blue eyes :) |

I would keep it the right way up, there is no need to turn it upside down. If you have a soldering iron, use that to make the hole. It will keep the edges spooth and blunt. Never use tape, snakes are very good at getting under things. |

Freeze the moss and then pour boiling water on it and it will be fine. Does the snake have enough floor space in there? Because of the height it may not feel secure. |

Random question, does the freezing then boiling the moss thing still apply even if you get your moss in those dried blocks? |
