Hi I have just got my first snake a beautiful carolina corn, But I am seeking som info. I am used to having lizards owning a BD and two water dragons aswell as looking after a veild chameleon, so I know about lighting for them as well as calcium supplementation. But do snakes require supplementation and UV lights to help them absorb it? |

Hi and welcome to the forum. Corns dont need any artificial lighting and as for supplementation, i dont think they need any as i think they get all their vitimins from the mice |

supplement only if there's a specific problem, otherwise you're wasting your money and potentially harming your snake.
any lighting in a corn's viv is purely for our benefit. red bulbs or energy saving ones are best, strip lights/tubes should be avoided. |

Strip lights flicker and it can stress the snake. |

i read that electronic controllers (as opposed to magnetic) are supposed to eliminate flicker.
but tubes are still quit bright and may damage the eyes |
