Or massive volume of poo.

Are you getting them the same sex? And go on, tell us what the 'mates rates' are.
I'm gutted I just missed out on Snow dragons for 20 quid each.

i thought they were 8 weeks but ive had a pair from the last clutch she had so they are about 5 weeks,
she said they have been doing really well which is why shes letting me have them at 5 weeks, and i guess as shes a friend atleast she knows me and knows i will look after them. if i had bred them tho i would have waited although saying that i trust what she thinks cos she really cares about her reps

I just had a look and i couldnt sex them, im going to have another look in a few weeks time, but i have another tank if they turn out to be male/female.....an excuse to get some more in the future then lol

will get some pics up soon

£30 for the two lemon pastel beardies ( i think thats what they are called, not good with morphs)

I'll probably end up with more beardies again soon.
My missus wants to let ours breed, but i've told her several times that they can't because they're both male.
Her response is to say 'how do you know, just look at their heads.' because someone told her that males always have big heads compared to the females.

I just told her the easy way to tell is by looking at (what is basically) their testicles.

Even though i've shown her they are both male, she is still insistent they are male and female because of the head sizes.

just wanted to check something with bd keepers on here. I have a UV and basking light on in the day and i switch them off at night. where they are theres a bit of a draft as we have one of those old outhouses attached to the house, anyone know what i mean? anyways we leave the door into there open so our dogs can go in there if they need the toilet and cant wait til morning (it has concrete floor) so i was wondering how to keep their tank the right temp i was thinking a heatmat but read someone not to do that?

In one of my BD vivs (the baby) i have a heatmat that comes on at night when the ceramic goes off just coz i'mpoopat remembering to turn it down at night and it works well for me - my big BD doesn't have a night time heatsourse (except what come up from the viv below) and he's fine too but they are in my livingroom that never really gets cold in there, can imagine an outhouse gets pretty chilly.

If i were you i'd change your basking lightbulb to a ceramic, you can just turn the temp down abit on the stat at night then. It won't disturb beardies sleep but will keep them warm enough, If you do this remember that you'll need a ceramic light fitting too.

i persoanlly dont have a heat source for them at night. I find it helps them to sleep the whole night through (helps me sleep the whole ngith trhough too) and then they come on at 7am. but then my room is fairly warm, heating pipes above and below, and a southern facing room, so i get hte sun allllll day ^o)

I have a heatmat under my beardie tank, because they're in the conservatory (for the moment) it can get quite chilly at night.

The UV and heatlamp get turned on in the mornings, usually around 7.30am and heatlamp off at about 9pm (ish) then UV off at about 10.30-11.

They're quite good though, they usually put themselves to bed now at about 9.30.

I would say one thing. Beardies aren;t like corns, and can't detect heat veyr well from underneath, so they could easily overheat if htey were sat on the mat and couldn;t tell how hot they are :)

If you loo, they have a "third eye" in the middle of htier heads, looks like a clear scale. This is a light and heat sensor, which helps them detect UV light and helps them detect heat from above. This way they can tell when they are getting too hot from the sun overhead and seek shade, Hense why it;s best to use a heat lamp :D

And hence why sometimes if you're handling them, they'll try to bolt for that sunny spot on the arm of the chair. (mine do)
