So, on the dark side people generally have bad things to say about Exo Terra glass vivs. What's the deal? And what do you guys think? |

Not sure about the tanks, I have never used them, but they look ace. I assume because they are glass you cant modify them in any way.
Its the E. Terra water bowls that anoy me. If I had know they were so blimmin' unpractical I wouldn't have got one. |

I use one with my T, and I wouldn't really complain. She's dug a huge cave, and if it weren't for the glass - I would ever be able to see her :P
They do look very nice, especially with amphibians etc - but as for snakes etc, I'm not too sure.. |

Hmm okay, well I'm not too mithered about seeing it so much, cos I like to get it out for a bit of exercise every day usually anyway. I'm going to buy a new viv tomorrow, since the one I have now is complete **** and I'm worried bout my little friend escaping. But I also like how the exo terra's hide the wires for the stat etc. I just hope it doesnt get stuck in the background. I'll have a look what my store has in tomoz, do you guys usually go for wooden? |

well the exo terra vivs are good. i have their largest viv (recent upgrade). cool cable entries. Your right to worry about the background, as much as i try to secure it, mystery gets in. finds his way out but there u go. the waterbowls aren't so great to be honest. i had two and changed them very quickly.
there light canopies look very good too but are stupidly expensive for plastic and bulb holders. check ebay for the terra vivs they are much cheaper on there. example - i paid 157 for mine, day after mine was delivered i spotted the same viv for 115. |

oh the vivs come with a mesh top so as punkas says, they can loose ambient temperature. if this is the case, invest in their canopy/other branded one or cover some of the top mesh with paper or a towel or something similar. |

Yep I'm with exo-terra, ari, same with mine he ALWAYS gets in there. Theyr'e well made vivs I'd say but blu-tak fixes the background buisness.
Think some paper towls are in order, lol |

I've got a big Exo-Terra for Moe. I'm heating it with a lamp, and haven't had any trouble maintaining a decent temp in there...though I'm sure it's not particularly efficient or anything.
Moe did manage to get behind the background the other day, and that was a real pain to get him out; fingers crossed, I think we've got it in place properly now, but I might give hillzi's blu-tak tip a go anyway :) |

Blu tac is my friend, I love making little people with it. Anyway.
I got the 12x12x12 today, I must admit I love the wire holes etc, and I bought a few new plants for it; and also the magnetic hide which the little one has found his way into already and I keep perving on him, bwahaha. Mummy is nosey. Seems content, definetely more crowded than last time with the plants etc, but that can only be good. Might take his mind off wanting to crawl up the back ;) |

Hmm! I wedged kitchen roll in the gaps but alas he got through about a cm gap! Filled that with blue tack and no funny business yet, may I emphasis YET. Lol!
Yup Blu-tacks been working for a while go for it Foley it will work.
Moe looks a bit big to force himself into a tiny gap but were theres a will, theres a way. especially with corns! The thing I like about exo-terras is the slits and the holes for the hatmat wire to come out, they're wicked instead of drilling a hole and deciding on a change around in a home made viv. |

Yeah hillzi, agreed. I just stuffed blu tack in the hole thats left. I still dont understand this stat, its set at 30 so when it goes above, obviously it goes off, but ive never actually noticed what sets it on again? how many degrees does it have to go down to switch back on? as it's now on 27 :/ i thought fluctuating too much wasn't good? I jus dont see what I can do to keep it there.
Edit: so now my warm side fluctuated between 27.5 and 30.1, must switch on again at 27.3 or something, is this capiche? ie: my warm side is always going to stay between 27.3-30.1 |

Ninja, a 3*C fluctuation is normal for a mat stat and is fine for the snake. |

When I had mine (I changed for a larger viv) I used cotton wool to block the holes, really tightly packed and he never got behind the back again :} |
