Hello

A while ago I asked on here about my Jakey's lumps as he has had lumps all over the lower part of his body for a good few years now.

Well he's been to two vets and neither really had any idea what to do. Tests were carried out but both commented on how healthy Jake appeared and said as long as it didn't affect him he should be ok.

Well now they are affecting him and I'm not sure what to do.

Lately he's been having alot of issues with his shedding and he's kind of getting stuck half way through. He is using the bark and branchs but he can's seem to move the skin alone. I got some Shed Assistance Spray stuff from a local pet shop and it did seem to help but its got to the point where I have to hold him (making a kind of arch) so he can use my hand as resistance to get it over his biggest lump.

The lumps are now appearing to get bigger and new ones are showing up. Over the lumps its clear to see his skin between the scales and i'm worried what will happen next.

I've had Jake for about 12 years now and although we have a very independent relationship I've cared for him for so long that I don't want to think about what might happen if they continue getting bigger.

Now its not only the lumps that are bothering me, over the years he has gone without eating but lately its been a few months. At first I just ignored it as he's always been fussy and as I said he's gone without food before but how long should I leave it before I take him to the vets again?

This morning for the first time ever he tried to escape while I took his water bowl out and by escape I mean he charged out the cage with speed rather then poke his head out like normal. I've read that males are more fiesty this time of year and that they don't eat as much - could he be a late developer or do you think its something more sinister?

I'm sorry this is such a long post but I don't really know much about snakes, we've just muddled though these years the best we can. Both vets have commented how healthy Jake is (apart from lumps) so we must be doing something right but at the moment I just feel a bit paranoid with him.

Sorry to hear about your concerns.

I suspect the lumps and his current fasting/ eagerness to escape may be different issues entirely. As you say, male corns can get a bit frisky in the breeding season and go off their food. Is he loosing weight at all?

If you are still worried about him the best person to ask is a vet- ideally a specialist reptile vet.
