In the last 2 hours henry has been itching to get out of the viv. It has only one sliding glass pannel so she knows which side the exit is. When im in my room i will always open it 2 inches and its her choice wether she wants to say hello. Anyway, recently she has been rubbing her nose agaist the glass (finding the exit, i guess she finds it hard to see the glass itself). When i open it she darts out and slides down the table leg and onto her towel that i keep under the table. This is weird because if this was last week she would have jumped back into either he hide or under the platform. Are there any reasons for this? im guessing she is either settling in better in her new surroundings or she is more confident in my presence. (sorry for the wall of text)

Maybe, but they do spend a lot of time trying to escape anyway, so she might just be happy she's made a discovery and wants to keep exploring.

Plus (this is only a theory) but snakes are more active when it's warm, so maybe the weather has given her a new lease of life

hi roughly on this note. i have just put chester in to his new home and he nas turned in to a recluse. he used to love being out and about, basking and was never worried about me being near. but now he just has his head out of his hide then as soon as the light goes out he is strt out and exploring. put the light on or move close to him and he is straight back in to hiding. is this normal while he settles in?

It's normal even after they've settled in! 3 times this week I've gone to bed, then forgot something and had to go back down and on all 3 occassions- the snakes are all out and about within the 5 minutes of me going upstairs. They must wait quietly near the exits to their hides until all the lights go off - then shoot out as soon as the coast is clear. The royal and the females are worst for it. Cheeky devils

sometimes you have to, but it is wise to leave them if you can.

They are more active at night so maybe turn his light off earlier so he'll come out while your still up.

Henry is constantly rubbing her nose against the perspex at the front of the viv. she pushes very hard when she does it. There is no chance of her escaping but i am worried because she is ALWAYS doing it. I am worried that she will make her chin/nose sore. what can i do to stop her doing this?

Nothing really, that's just what some of them do.

Our king is always damaging herself in that way. She once managed to take a full scale off her head one night. She is a bit calmer now and the only thing we can think of is that we moved a speaker further away from her viv. Maybe the vibrations were driving her mad.

Check around her viv to see if there is anything that might unsettled her. It might help, but Nagini still does it sometimes though, just not as often as she used to.
