Does anyone know anything about these?
Was just walking back when I nearly stepped on one.. We looked at him under the light and he looked really low
Barely moved, held his head low and didn't really seem active..

I have him in a fish tank / rub kinda thing atm, and he doesn't seem to want go into the water. I've put him onto the try bit, and raised it.. And he just doesn't move :(

Anyone have any ideas? :(

We'll let him back into the pond/stream he was obviously from tomorrow - it's just that he didn't seem too healthy we thought we'd see if we could do anything for him..
But the best might be to just release him.
(It didn't let me edit my first post; so I've had to post again :( )

I used to keep both common newts and breed them along with great cresteds.
They prefer the tank to be mainly water with a few rocks for climbing out on if they want to. The love to hide under rocks but make sure these won't fall on them. Pond weed is a great addition and using the water from where you found him will be beneficial. If the water is too clean when you release him his immunities will be lowered and he may get sick otherwise.
They wont eat anything thats not moving and they like bloodworms and small earthworms.

He might be fine and perhaps was just scared and didn't like/recognise the water.
