Welcome to the forum ^^ I agree with Jono2411, they do it to keep a nice grip, arms can be slippy things after all!

Jono2411's post sounds spot on probaly just keeping a good grip saber should relax more when he/she realises they arn't going to fall off :) & if its not cause they keeping a grip maybe s/he's testing if you are eatable hehe.
Get some pictures up as soon as you can, i love butters :D thats why i bought one!
