Wild captures can sometimes benefit endangered animals though.

Breeding regimes from wild caught can increase the wild population and get us new pets. .
From recollection I think i read somewhere about Corn snakes would be considered an endangered species if it wasn't for all the pet ones.

It is a beautiful lizard as well, I wonder if beardies evolved from something like this????

Pretty awesome.
Tuataras are so amazing that they're not actually lizards.

Hmm what classification would they be then??
I have re-read again and see they say Lizard-like, so be interesting to see the species class.

Could they be in the same class as crocs for example.

Now follow a bit of interesting text:

So, with regards to alligators and lizards, the classification is as follows.

For the American Alligator:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Reptilia
Order: Crocodylia
Family: Alligatoridae
Genus: Alligator
Species: mississippiensis

For a lizard in general:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Reptilia
Order: Squamata
[Suborder] Sauria
Family:
Genus:
Species:

You see I've left blank the family, genus and species of lizards. The
reason why is that there are so many different ones. Take the familiar
Green Iguana, for instance. It belongs to the Family Iguanidae, Genus
Iguana, Species Iguana. But there are thousands of possible
combinations when it comes to lizards.

Some lizard/reptile family linkage info here: http://home.earthlink.net/~itec/Reptilia.html

Tuataras are the only surviving members of the order Sphenodontia.

I find them amazing as they have a kind of 3rd "eye" on their foreheads which can sense light ^^
