But I bet very few will do toughened/tempered glass. Toughened glass will shatter into harmless chunks. Normal glass will shatter into extremely sharp shards. Remember this!

I got my toughened safety glass from Stevenage Glass in yes, you guessed it, Stevenage in Herts. IIRC I payed about £30 for the 2 pieces I needed for my 3ft viv.

Sorry, my post wasn't worded very well. A bit misleading.

I expect they will sell you toughened glass, but you will have to order it because the tempering process is done after cutting ASAIK and I don't think this can be done by most glass companies.

I bought mine from somewhere that can supply toughened glass direct. I didn't want to wait! I'm like that, it has to be done yesterday if it can be,

Correct, glaziers will have to send it off to be toughened/tempered, and after that it cannot be cut so they cut it all first.

Most glaziers do it, infact I phoned about 8 in my area to get different quotes and they all did either toughened or just regular glass.

Laminated is also an option if you don't want to fork out for toughed.

Most local glaziers will do the glass for you (4mm), probably around £15. There is no need for toughened glass at 3' viv size or less in my opinion. If I was going for a 4' viv I'd probably go for 6mm toughened.

Acrylic or Polycarbonate sheet are ok, but they scratch very easily and they tend to flex a lot too. You never see ready built vivs for sale with anything other than glass do you?
