Ok guys and gals.... finally finished my viv today after doing some shopping for decor and this is it.... your comments will be very welcome.
1st stage was cutting all the contiboard and drilling the thousands of holes in it for all my secret fixings! 7 pieces in total.
I also had to build this little shelf unit to fill the space next to my office cupboard, should come in handy.
Fully assembled........ Bet your wondering about the cutout in the bottom rail aren't you? All will be revealed! 
This pic show the fixings I used again. The ones to fix the back and top are obviously on the back of the viv.
I know lighting isn't needed for corns but I wanted it and I'm having it. 
With the substrate in and a couple of silk plants. I have a tip here too. Don't buy expensive 'reptile' plants. I got all mine from a local garden centre. They have a huge range of silk plants and they're quite cheap compared to the branded products sold for vivs. Also the thermometer recessed into the front is a fridge/freezer unit bought on ebay. Has a over/under temperature alarm too and the probes are on 1 metre wires.
The finished product, I was quite pleased with the results. The thermostat and thermometer probes are under the cork hides on top of the hemp either end of the viv.
I also have a blue LED light for at night. It's nowhere near this bright, I turned up the voltage for the pic. It's just a very dim blue glow so I can see the snake at night.
The heatmat is connected to a pulse proportional stat with night time temperature drop controlled automatically. It's wired into a photocell unit I have in the window that automatically controls the day and night lighting too.
Finally, the corn I have my eye on in the local shop is almost exactly the same as this one. Maybe a little larger at about 5 months old.
You can see why I'm tempted, cant you?
Ok, sorry for so many pics but I am really quite pleased with how it came out.

Thank you all for your comments. The heating seems stable in the viv. I have 29-31C hot end and 20-24C cooler end on top of the hemp under the hides. I'm off out now to a couple of shops to look at a sunglow and a lavender. I may have a snake when I come home today.

Hi Bud, I use those thermometers too, very good. How have you attached it to the viv as I have had them fall off before using double-sided sticky pads. Also, the battery department is on the back so I need to get to it at some point to change them?

Hi BE. I fortunately have a router so I recessed the the thermometer into the bottom rail. At the moment it's stuck with double sided sticky pads. The kind you use for sticking a registration plate on your car. They're very sticky.
I put some new duracells in so they shouldn't need changing for a while.
My thermometer has 2 little magnets on the back because its supposed to stick on your fridge door. I was originally going to glue a piece of steel to the back of the recess and then it should just hold there with the magnets. I'll let you know if I do eventually get round to doing this.

I use the registration plate stickers too as I thought they'd hold them, I guess its the heat that reduces their life.
Gluing a metal plate on is a good idea, where could you buy that sort of thing? |

Thanks again for all your comments. I think I've got the snake bug again badly. I'm already thinking about getting another one.
Shame my wife doesn't share my enthusiasm. Hmmm? I wonder if I could heat the shed and turn it into a breeding room?

I've already got plans laid out for when any of my rooms becomes empty.
With two 15 year old girls living at home, one day one of the rooms will be empty, so I get a giant Viv room!!
Komodos????? Although i haven't run my idea past the missus properly yet, i have mentioned it a few times. |
