Not sure if anything has been placed on here, im guessing it would have.

but basically i want to make a viv but am unsure what would to make it out of and how to seal it etc.

The viv is going to be 3ft long, 17 inch high and 20 inches in depth. I am planning to build 4 and have them stacked in my room.

Any help with the wood type and sealant and paint would be great.

I will be having glass doors on the front and vents etc in the back. i will also be having a heat mat on the bottom for the heat source with a bulbs on a timer.

Your best bet is to use conti board, its safe, moisture resistant and will not need painting,as for sealant use aquarium sealer.

I agree with lee, that will do the job fine. You can get glass runners and vents off ebay

Also as above, have a look in the DIY section.

I built mine from beech furniture/conti board from Wickes. I used Wickes because it comes in 15" and 18" widths which suited my design better (less waste). Mines fitted together using the cam and dowel hidden fixings from Screwfix because I didn't want screw holes everywhere. You could use the little joining blocks too.
Fit a couple of vents, glass runners and run aquarium sealant round all the internal joins and your done.
If your building a stack, I'd consider converting a flat pack wardrobe. Could be a good starting point.

Once I have the decor in mine I'll be posting some pics.
