Its best to avoid using pine or other sapy type woods as they are toxic to snakes and you can gat the runners from ebay or i think that reptile ink might do them on here.

a pine carcass can be varnished but melamine/contiboard is readily available, waterproof and wipe clean. seal the joins with aquarium silicon sealant which is safe for snakes. i'm pretty sure vents and runners are available from reptiles-ink. glass doors from your local glazier or i used 4mm perspex from RED plastics - try googling them, they were very good with quick delivery.

sounds good the only thing with bookcases is they're often not very deep, but fine if you're converting it into 'smaller' vivs. we've converted a pine chest of drawers into a 3 viv stack, plenty of varnish as it was pine

add your width 31" to the depth 12" to give you the maximum length of snake suitable for the viv, so 43"
i'm assuming it's inches!
knock off 10-12mm for the width of the glass runners and think about would your hides/water bowl etc fit in that space?
