the general vibe about this is provide a hidebox with some damp moss in it around shed time or to give a quick bath in warm water then let him run through a towel to help the skin come off... maybe someone can give other advice tho, havent had this problem... |

James has had 2 sheds with us - the first looked fine but we discovered the last couple of inches of his tail hadn't shed. We bathed him then let him slither through a towel which slowly removed it and we think we got it all off.
His second shed with us (just a couple of days ago) we were more prepared - I had a tupperware box and some sphagnum moss ready in the freezer, but he still managed to catch us unaware and one morning he looked dreadful - all patchy flaking skin everywhere
I put his box of sphagnum moss in not expecting miracles, but the next day I couldn't find him and when I went to put his moss box back in, I could see him in it coiled around the moss! I was so happy as it meant he was taking action at least, so it put my mind at ease a bit...
Last night I had him out and he was all perfect and shiny and new! But I did spot about a cm of skin still on his tail tip - I wet some kitchen roll in warmish water, then let him slither through it while I held it not too tightly around him. After a few goes through, the skin came off and his tail is fine now.
I now have a digital hygrometer to measure humidity as well as the thermometer so hopefully I can measure exactly how humid it is (or isn't) in his viv, and when I see him working up to a shed I can increase the humidity and see exactly what level he needs and then hopefully repeat that each time. |

You can get Sphagnum moss from most garden centres. That'll do it. |
