Our big beardie Ripple has lost a bit of weight over the last couple of months. He's about 2 and a half still active if not more active (i think he's horny)and generaly just eats locusts when he feels like it and emptys his greens all over his viv.

Date
2/12/08 - 462g
10/1/09 - 455g
2/2/09 - 444g

I'm not hugely worried coz he's still a fatty but as we've only been weighing him for 3 months it seams a bit odd. Just a winter thing or a reason for concern? Answers on a post card please.

He looks healthy enough, but I don't know much about beardies... as its winter, and if he's fine in all other ways, I would just carry on monitoring his weight for a while and see how he goes... Do you dust his food with calcium and nutrobal etc (I presume you need to do this with beardies... not sure)?

Also, if he's a little more active than he used to be, this could be what the weight loss is about... as long as he remains within normal paramaters, I would just keep a weather eye on him, and check out if you can find out anything on other forums... All the best.. J

PS... he looks a beaut.. and is obviously pals with the doggy... lol

Yeah i dust his greens and gut load his hoppers maybe it is because he's finally getting some exercise. I'll keep and eye on the weight and chuck him a few mealworms now and again.

Beardie and dog get on fine as he gets to wander around once the kids are in bed. It's just the cat i dont trust with him. I think ripple likes to lay on her coz she's warm.

I wouldn't worry too much. From what I can see in the picture his colours still look vivid and weight loss doesn't seem too much of an issue. Beardie looks good too .

wd about it too much mate. If he looses more than 30% of his body weight, get him checked for interenal parasites.
Otherwise, realyl not much to worry about. My beardie hasnt been al lthat active and hasn't been eating much over this winter. Just think its where they can feel the cold and the pressure change! Still a little fatty though :P

Gorgeous beardie ^_^
