I went to get Frodo out for a play today, he was fed a couple of days ago. He wasn't himself today then I discovered his eys were clouded so I probably stressed him a bit. I'm a bit nervous about it to be honest as it's my first time... I'm a shed virgin
How long before he sheds. I read the eyes will clear before the shed is that right? The next feed is due on friday so I'm not sure if I should feed then?

Any advice would be most welcome

Cheers Brads

you will find the eyes will clear in the next couple of days then he will probably shed within 5-7 days. as for feeding some corns will eat and some wont. but dont worry if he doesnt feed he will be fine for the 10 days or so.

Should do anything to help or just leave him to it. I've read about misting but is that really needed?

You could put in a moss box or a butter tub with shredded moist paper in the warm side but no garentee it will use it.

I think the most important thing you need to check is that when he has shed, make sure the eyecaps and tail have come off fully - I had no idea what the eyecaps would look like, but it's like a flat bit of shed (shaped like his head!) with two large clear goggle scales .

Our snake had problems shedding his tail so we had to bathe him and then let him slither through a towel to help him shift it, we're going to offer a tub with wet moss next time just in case!

Just an update on Frodo's shed. His eyes all cleared up yesterday. after three days. He is due a feed tomorrow should I try and feed still? I feed x2 pinkies every 7 days. If he doesn't want his food how long can he go without?

They can go months without food so a few days won't hurt.

All my corns will eat when they are in shed, but not all do. You can try

Well he's done it. I came home from my night shift and checked on him and was surprised to find a fully intact shed Frodo's now showing off his new coat
Before my night shift I put took his water bowl from the cool end and put it slightly on the warmer end to try and up the humidity, I dont know if it work because fauns are very well vented and I have no means of measureing the humidity, but any how his hole shed stage from cloudy eyes to full shed only took 5 days Just in time for his regular feeding time
