Hi, I have been feeding my 4 month old corn x2 pinkies every 7 days. Feeding is going well but after feeding I have a bit of problem getting him out of his RUB to go back in his faunarium. He is very freindly at all other times, but when I go to pick him up out of his RUB he always turns his head to my hand. I havn't been tagged yet though. It does make me a bit nervous after a feed. I don't hold him by the lumps where his food is. After 48 hours he is back to normal and is ok to handle Any tips from you guys?

I have this problem with my corn (although shes 4ft long). The bite from a 4 month old corn wouldnt hurt, but if you jerk your hand away when its teeth are in you you could cause the snake damage without trying.
I use a coat hanger for mine as an improvised snake hook, you could do that. |

Mine generally try to eat anything that goes into their rubs after they eat, so i put the rub into the viv sometimes then they get out.
Getting tagged from mine doesn't hurt much either, it's more a sharp sting like getting an injection and it's the shock more than anything. |

Ok, im confused, my corn ate from my hand last night while i was handling him and was perfectly happy being handled after making no attempt to bite me at all even after id had pinkies in my hands, is that strange?

Cheers guys. So i'm not the only one who has this problem then. I'll try a smaller rub then put him in the viv. When he gets bigger I'll have to look at an alternative.
Whats the bite from an adult like matty?

I've only got 4 fingers on my right hand.
Seriously, with mine it was just a sharp sting. Wasn't bad at all. but it's the shock of the bite that seems to make it feel worse, until afterwards when you realise that it didn't hurt. If you understand that.
Just one word of warning though, if you have tagged fingers DO NOT eat a pack of salt and vinegar crisps shortly afterwards. |
