Hi all,
I'm getting a baby corn next month and wanted your opinion on housing. I already have a clear plastic box with secure lid which is 11 inches by 5.5 inches (it's like a smaller version of the numerous toy/container boxers that you see everyday). I was going to make some air holes and use it to house my new friend but I noticed the faunarium's whilst doing a reci at the pet shop and I'm not sure if I should buy one of those instead. What say you? |

It doesnt make much differance. Just decide which one is better ventilated, the more appropriate size and is more secure. Welcome to the forum |

If I keep what I have it's saving money which is a bonus. For ventilation I'll need to add the holes myself. I'm thinking the top is best, should I add holes on opposite ends lengthways or all the way around do you think?
(thanks for the welcoem btw ) |

It doesnt matter where you add holes, just make sure you know what size to make them. You can always make them bigger but you cant make them smaller. |

If i was you id put holes on the cool side coz if you put them on the warm side the heats just gonna rise up and not hold it in as good as you could |

Doesnt matter realy. That only applies to hot air. Heat mats only heat the surfaces they touch. |

This is the plastic box I have. I've put holes through the top at both ends and some on either side. Set it up and getting the right heat. The plastic is quiet thin though, it has warped it a little on the bottom above the matt but it's not melted or anything, may still get the faunarium.

That tub looks ok to me. I've got a faunarium for mine. there not expensive, mine was a just under a tenner. My corn should be ok in it for 10 to 12 months.

I've noticed this morning some condensation, this wasn't there yesterday at all. Do you reckon I should put some more holes in the sides? The temp gradient is about right (just under 30 hot end and just over 20 cold) |

I'm a noobie to all this my self. Is the water bowl warm end? if so put it in the cooler end of the viv. I don't seem to get this with my faun, but then they are very well vented so maybe more air hole is needed.

I have a water bowel in the there, it was in the middle. Moved it to the cold end. I'll enlarge the size of the holes and see if that helps. |

Make sure you dont make the holes too big, best to add more than make 'em bigger. |
