hey.
if i wish to move my snakes onto two pinkies for accelerated growth and has only been fed one so far, will it cause the snake any harm? i just thought it might cause it a bit more stress during digestion?

If you're doing it for accelerated growth rather than what's best for the snake then you ought to give it to someone else.

If you mean that the snake is ready for a 2nd pinky then it will not harm the snake.

Its not fair on the snake to be given more than it can handle. If it can physicaly take two pinkies then offer it two.

Remember that it will only be small for a few years, so enjoy it while it lasts and dont rush it

i agree with BE and matty, i'd seriously question your reasoning for 'accelerated growth'
because corns are such dustbins it's easy to overfeed them accidentally, without even thinking about doing it deliberately!

sorry about that guys. i actually got told the wrong information and what i meant to say was it going to help at all or just complicate things, but you have answered my question. my friend told me that he done it with his and it grew about 5 times as fast. but it was supposed to be a query. sorry if i've upset anyone.
another question about feeding. how will i know if they can take 2 pinkies? is it relative to their size?

no offence taken nosh , it just seemed an odd question, or an odd way of putting it

if your snake is still hunting around after it's first pinky then try offering a second one. if it takes it then great, if it doesn't then stick to one pinky per feed for a few more weeks then try offering a second one again. when your snake is regularly taking 2-3 pinkies per feed you could try moving up to fuzzies, providing they're not too big - the prey item should be no more than 1.5 times the width of the snakes body at the widest point.

That's what we're here for Josh

I agree with GP's advice above.

We recently moved ours up to 2 pinkies - the first week he took a fair amount of time to notice the second one, but after half an hour it was gone.

I fed him this week and he took the first pinkie quite quickly, then I put in the second and he must have come out of nowhere and wolfed it down as when I looked back a minute later it had gone and I had a snake peering at me suspiciously through the glass... :)

Lol!

We were told he was a July hatchling so that makes him six months... but he's only like a shoelace and can't be much longer than 12".

We were worried at first because his neck seemed to be very thin and none of the pics we've seen on here show that, but his neck has filled out a bit since he's been with us.
