I've been given a baby beardie, it hatched on 10th november.
Problem is, although i've had beardies before i've never had one so young.

Any extra info i should know about tiny ones? it's approx 2-3 inches long, i'll get some piccys up shortly.

Bless, tiny ickle baby beardie. The care is pretty much the same although a baby so young will need bugs twice a day at least three times is better. My baby is 12 weeks now and already getting friendly, he hopped on to my hand today. Good luck with it.

Teeny weeny baby!!

I'm not allowed beardies because the OH says I have too many pets already and they need UV and stuff which I can't afford. Put some pics up soon so we can all enjoy the teenyness!!

Do they really need feeding that often? I don't know much about beardie care.. presumably you can feed them less when they are older?

Bizarre little thing isn't it, i've never seen one that small.

Might have to get it a friend, it does look lonely on it's own.

IT is cute, but I've never been a huge fan of beardies either, If i was gonna buy a lizard, i'd go for a great plated again, it may just be me, but i think Beardie poo seems to taint everything, you can never get rid of the smell.

Finally settled on a name as well, 'Aeris'.

wow teeny...I have a beardie with no tail. Not recommended to get a friend tho as they can fight and get territorial. One will be fine on its own. Mine eats crickets and locusta as a treat as they are more expensive. He has daily greens of kale, grapes, broccoli etc but his fave is dandilion greens! Good luck with him they are such fun little animal with bags of character!

I agree, they are best kept in their own vivarium.

There is an excellent care sheet on RFUK if you need advice.

I love beardies but the live crickets escaping and the alleged poo smell puts me off. I shall have to wait until next year when I move I think. I also think I'd like a BTS.

I've thought of that problem, and i'm still considering it, she came from a large batch (24) so i was gonna consider getting one of her sisters, hopefully there wont be problems, but if there is, then they'll get separated, i already have the secondary viv set up, just in case.

Just an excuse to get another really.

BDs are solitary animals that only come together for breeding purposes and then seperate after copulation. Wouldn't keeping two together in the same viv be unfair on the dragons? Once they are bigger fights could break out and you can not watch them continuously. A dragon loosing a tail or a foot (or worse) would be a terrible end result.

Being related and from the same batch would not guarantee against this happening.

They could be kept seperately and allowed to meet under supervision. Dragons do like some brief social interaction with other dragons, but when it comes to home, one viv is only ever big enough for one dragon

I thought the general rule for BDs is no more than 1 male per viv just like with Leos. we're really hoping our baby BD turns out to be female so it can go in with our big male once it's adult but you can't sex them till they're at least 9 months.
