ok guys a little advice here if you can
Iv just got Saphy out of her viv and she is looking a little dull on the head an her eyes aren't as vibrant so im guessing she is due to shed soon enough, here's a pic, she's usually very brightly coloured

So now with the questions , is there anything special i need to add to her viv, damp sponge or something. I have a shedding log for her to rub on is that enough ? Should i use a spray bottle to dampen the walls of the viv or anything like that ?
Also she's due a feed tomorrow should i hold off or try her anyway see if she wants it or not.
Im getting all excited again at the thought of her growing
Thanks in advance, Nick |

Hi Nick. Yep, sounds like she's due to shed. I generally don't add anything as mine just rubs against his log and has shed in one piece everytime. Snakes are pretty clever and if she thinks its too dry then she'll probably curl up in the water bowl. Not 100% about the feed....worst case scenario is that she won't feed and you've wasted a mouse (no big deal). I'd be tempted to try feeding...but I'm only talking from my experiences as my corn will eat no matter what (takes after me lol). Hope this helps. |

I don't even bother thinking about feeding mine when they are due to shed, I call it 'blue-eye' because their eyes go blue. Afterwards they'll always have a feed, and at the end of the day, if they go without eating for another 4 days, does that make any odds?
I can't remember where I read it, but somewhere was said: Imagine putting on a pair of trousers and a jumper that was to tight, along with a blindfold. Would you feel like eating? Then take off the trousers, top and blindfold, and you'll ravage anything.
She's just having a shed, if you can actually see her do it, then well done it's not often you can see it happen. Just keep watch on her, she'll be absolutely fine. |

I`d agree with Kehhlyr to lay of the feed until after and as long as there is something in there to rub on let nature take its course. |

Mine shed AGAIN today. The last shed was on 10 March, just 34 days ago. At this rate he will be shedding 10-11 times a year! Guess he is growing quickly.
I did notice he was a bit duller in clour recently but his eyes have never really changed and he certainly has been eating well- he had 2 pinkies just 3 days ago. |
