hi all, my cornsnake is aprox 2 foot long and i was told that he was a 2006 hatchling. i was wondering what age cornsnakes are when they reach their full length?? and it might be a stupid question but when they have reached full length, do they still shed or does the frequantcy slow down??

hi there...
2 foot seems very small for a 06. mine is 07 and is 2.5 foot plus.
takes about 3-4 year to be fully grown.
they still shed but there frequency slows down. |

| my two adults are both nearing the 5 feet mark, they continue to grow throughout their life but the growth-rate slows right down, like dazb said they shed less frequently because of this. generally they're considered 'adults' at 3-4 years, that's when the majority of their growth has been done. |

| well im realy quite new to the whole snake keeping! I have only had him for a couple of weeks but he seems to be doing ok and settling in well. he had his first feed on friday and has been getting to know his new enclosure. he had been kept in a very small (take away) type box... not sure if this will be a factor in his growth or not!! |

I say a take away box - it was a small plastic tub with a bit of paper towel in the bottom and some air vents in the sides! i havent got the box any more but i will put a cuple of pics of 'kaiko' up later tonight when i get home!! do you think this might have effected his health in any other ways?? He does seem fine - no mucous from nose or mouth and his poo is quite firm and he is eating ok! all opinions very welcome!

| I have an 06 Anery who is almost reaching about 4 foot now, that sounds like a really underfed snake they have sold you if they are born in 06. Adult corns usually reach about 4-5 foot depending but in some cases they have been known to grow to 6 foot but these seem to be rare as out of 18 adult corn snakes i have seen i have only seen one that big. I have a friend that got a wild corn from southern florida, and according to loads of corn snake sites they are slightly smaller than the corns in carolina. As some have said before when they hit the adult mark thier rate of shedding slows down. As learnt on this forum recently snakes always grow. (thank you for that!) |

| hatchlings are fine in 'takeaway tubs' but most people tend to move them into bigger faunariums as soon as possible, poor snake Ell, bet he's glad you got him! |
