Coincidently after what Daman posted, I fed my three adults an extra large mouse today for the first time. In the past when I've moved up a size the first time takes them about 20 mins to get the bulky part down but the next week its back to a couple minutes max. Today two of them struggled and it took them ages, plus I could hear the mice bones breaking inside them - yuk! Anyway, they managed but I was wondering if feeding them this size from now on would be damaging in any was eg exhausting for them, stretching skin too much etc... I'm of the opinion that if it fits then its fine - am I wrong? They could go back to large mice but they need them every 4 days but this XL should do once a week. |

I would say that its fine, if they've eaten them and kept them down. Also, you may want to stretch them to 10-14 days rather than weekly. |

When my royal eats i can often hear crunching of the rat so im sure its fine. My corn is on two large mice every 14 days so i sugguest you feed them once every 10-11 days. |

For my 2 adults i usually feed them roughly every two weeks as when i was feeding them weekly, they were showing signs of putting on weight. |

I thought female adults still needed feeding weekly throughout their lives, but males were ok on a fortnightly feed?
Something to do with females needing more fat (same in humans apparently) |

that's what i do (is that what i said above?? if not it's what i meant ) if they're getting too fat xalia i'd give them smaller meals weekly. |

I think the standard opinion is 1 prey item roughly the same size as the widest part of the snake every 7 days for adults, 5 days for hatchlings. That said everyone has the own ways of doing things. Half the fun of keeping snakes is learning.

the god that is Kathy Love says: 'thou shalt feed thy adult male cornsnake a suitably sized meal fortnightly'
or something like that anyway
they do less = they need less food is my thinking |

Saying that though, Matty feeds his female fortnightly and it's about 80 years old or something, so it can't hurt whatever you decide |
