I have recently acquired a hatchling corn that is refusing to eat, in fact i has never eaten since it was born at the begining of August. It's owner, I notice, force fed it within two of it having been born and has since been force feeding it every 7 days. My question is how do I help this hatchling to eat on its own (I think it is probably stressed out come feeding time because of all the force feeds) and what is a suitable length of time to allow a hatchling to go without food before it needs to be force fed?

Your guidance would be invaluable here!

theres no harm in offering a pink before you attemt force fed. corn that i have had to force have all evenually came round to taken pinks themself. as for how long to leave it really depends on the condtion of the hatchling and thats hard to say without seeing/knowing the snake.

Monitor its weight, if its not losing any then it will be fine not eating. A few weeks won't hurt if its in a decent condition.

I hope it doesn't always need force feeding, especially if he's always had to feed it like that. You should get him to teach you how to do it before you attempt it yourself, I've heard it can be very stressful for the snake and the owner.
Good luck!

there's various things you can try - braining pinkies, halving pinkies, very hot pinkies, chick-scented pinkies, lizard-scented pinkies (if you can find a lizard!) feeding in the snakes faunarium, feeding it in a separate tub, leaving it over night with the pinky, or even 24 hours............ chick thighs *nods @BE*
