How long is it safe to keep rodents in a freezer. I thought you shouldn't keep food in a deomestic freezer for over 3 months?

0.1.1 Corn Snakes (Elaphe guttata) CB07 Jasper (Amelanastic) CB07 Chicomecoatl (Anerythristic Aztec)
1.0.0 Royal Python (Python regius) CB07 Tibo (Normal)
1.1.0 California Kingsnakes (Lampropeltis getula californiae) CB05 Luka (B&W Banded) CB06 Lucien (Albino Banded)

According to the american food safety website food frozen stays safe almost indefinately, however the quality can be reduced slightly in terms of taste, below is the times which it recons you can keep food without its quality changing whatsoever. I assume rodents would be nearest to uncooked chicken or chicken bits, whatcha reckon?

Item Months
Bacon and Sausage 1 to 2
Casseroles 2 to 3
Egg whites or egg substitutes 12
Frozen Dinners and Entrees 3 to 4
Gravy, meat or poultry 2 to 3
Ham, Hotdogs and Lunchmeats 1 to 2
Meat, uncooked roasts 4 to 12
Meat, uncooked steaks or chops 4 to 12
Meat, uncooked ground 3 to 4
Meat, cooked 2 to 3
Poultry, uncooked whole 12
Poultry, uncooked parts 9
Poultry, uncooked giblets 3 to 4
Poultry, cooked 4
Soups and Stews 2 to 3
Wild game, uncooked 8 to 12

I think the general guide for frozen snake food is 6 months, but out of all of the above i suppose it's closest to 'wild game' so 8-12 sounds reasonable to me.

And all this time Kaz has been hiding bodies in them until she can sneak round mine and bury them under my concrete garden.

You think thats bad, I go round to an old boys most evenings, just to give him company for a couple of hours and last year we found a SEALED jar of marmite in his cupboard that went out of date in May 1996!! I did open it and tentatively taste it (curiosity got the better of me) and it didn't taste or smell any different. I suffered no ill effects from a small taste, but didn't risk eating anymore of it though.

0.1.0 Strawberry Snow Stripe corn snake - Dawn
0.1.0 Harlequin Crested Gecko - Stickles
1.0.0 Sable Syrian Hamster - CoCo

I've just had a rummage in Geoff's cupboard and i've got in my hand a Tin of Corned Beef (sainsburys) that went out of date dec 2000, and a Jar of Duerrs Marmalade that went out of date in March 2001.

Both of these are still sealed!!!! I'll get some piccys later and put them up, may even get really bored and take some piccys of the contents.
Hmm, maybe charity auction on Ebay....

Bet my mum can beat that- she never throws anything away. She'll probably have tins in the cupboard from the early nineties
