Well guys, meet my new baby. I picked him up this morning (at least, he is believed very strongly to be a 'he') and I've temporarily named him Sirius (potterfan should be pleased), though this may change as I get to know him better
He is a miami x crimson, apparently, and has gorgeous colours that the photos just don't do justice too. He's mostly really dark red on cream with yellow spots on his saddles and some black outlining. He was the most spritely and eager to explore in the shop so I had to have him as he slithered out of his hatchling box and right onto my hand He's had a good snoop about in his new home too, and had great fun burrowing in the aspen! I think he's popped off for a warm up and a snooze now. He is 3 1/2 months old, has shed twice and is feeding well.
One thing - when I got him back I did handle him briefly before popping him in his viv - partially because he shot up my arm rather than going in the tank and seemed to be enjoying himself - he was fed three days ago, but when I put him down he yawned which I thought they only did when they had just eaten? I was a little worried he would regurge, but its been a few hours since and all is well so far do they often do that?
Anyway! Enjoy the pics! Sorry for the long post just over excited!
In his box:
Peeking at you!

Awesome red colouring there Sirius- you look great!
Hope he settles in well silicone. Don't worry about the yawning, they can do that anytime, its not just after eating they yawn. |

Very well thanks He's due a feed today so I shall embark upon that great adventure this evening. He was exploring again when I got up this morning so I picked him up for a while, and though he was skittish at first (and head butted me lol!) he chilled out pretty quickly. I can't believe he is so small! The only baby snakes I'd seen were in macro photos so it was quite a shock to see how teeny they are and he's nearly four months old!
I can feel the bug already though.. they had a couple of really beautiful snows and anerys that really caught my eye.. must. be. strong! |
