I was just wondering what people do with their heat mats when using a wooden viv, or do most people use a light?

I've heard people will just but the heat mat in the viv but the snakes can get underneath it and give themselves thermal burns.
I'm a way off from putting little Zissou in a viv but was just wondering what you guys do?

I did this with mine..

Heat Mat under a soft bathroom floor tile with a Mat Stat on top.. I've since raised the Mat stat above the chipping to increase the viv temp..

I've got a light on a timer inside but its just an energy saver bulb that gives off little heat. Id say a heat light will be a lot of hassle personally as it'll need a guard..

I use heatmats inside my wooden vivs. I put a layer of newspaper down as a base with substrate on top, I have hides and heavy decorations where the heatmat is - pinning the paper down so the snake can't get to the mat and burn itself.

we put a floor tile over ours, seems to transfer the heat better and holds it longer so less energy used
