Jeff shed for the first time I've had him, He shed but it broke into 1-2 bits, and there was a large amount left which he couldn't get off. I put some warm water and slowly and gently helped him pull it off, and he seems to be fine, I've fed him and he took it as per usual?
Is there anything I should check for? |

As well as the tip of the tail, humidity levels, temps, skin condition and something in the viv for the snake to rub against/through when due to shed next time.
If the skin that is left on the snake is more than 50% and includes the head skin, leave him an extra day before you help it to shed, as the skin that has come off, may have come off too early as oppossed to the rest coming off late. Peeling the skin off too early can hurt the snake, if the new skin has not healed underneath the old.

yea couldnt be bothered making a new post on shedding so i will just post it here. On monday (3 days ago) Skittles had the whole blue eye thing which they get when they are going to shed, i fed him and he ate it. The next day he shed a bit if skin on his belly and that was it. But he hasnt shed the rest yet, the last shed wasnt a clean shed and so should i be worried or should i bath him or what should i do? |

What substrate have you got him on Hayley? If only his belly skin has come off, has he dragged himself over something rough? Has he started to rub his nose?

if skittles only went blue on monday it could take a week before he sheds naturally. i wouldn't be worried that he hasn't yet but like mark said something in the viv might be a bit too rough? |

The hampster stuff might be drying his skin too quick, before he is due to shed. Maybe remove it, if its bedding and absorbant. |

need to get rid and replace it with something snake-friendly then, aspen, beech chippings or for a quick fix either newspaper or kitchen roll/towel |
