I got a beautiful shed off Dusk this morning and counted the scales from the anal plate to the tail and it came out as 126, does this make him more likely to be a her? (I know it's not 100% positive).
Also Dusk is about 12 weeks old now and around 20 inches long, is this a normal size at this age? She/he's not over-fed that I know of (2 pinkies every 5 days).
Thankies! |

2 pinkies every 5 days? isnt that a bit too much at 12 weeks old? spose it depends on its size? im sure someone else wil have the answer. im new to this so im just trying to learn too. |

I would suggest moving up to 1 fuzzy every 5 days rather than 2 pinkies - less fat. |

I'd recommend feeding 2 pinkies for a while then moving up to a fuzzy. 2 pinkies are about the same size as a fuzzy but are easier to digest, as an intermediary level. |

I think for sexing by counting the sub-caudal scales up to 55 pairs of scales is likely to be female, over 70 pairs is likely to be male and anything in the middle could be either. BTW this is NOT an accurate method, having said that I'm pretty accurate at sexing by tail length |

he might be sold anyway, got a friend coming to see him, hopefully tomorrow, her hubby has been after a snake for a while. Beech would be a good first snake, nice kinda guy and not fiddly/skitty like a hatchling. already pointed him in the direction of this forum for research |
