if he's overweight that can make their scales feel rough as the skin is over-stretched between them and the scales don't lie smoothly. Beech my male amel is a bit porky, he feels like that too, and squishy underneath, not like any of my other corns but it's difficult to describe if you don't have a direct comparison.
