hi there,

i have been looking at all the amazing pics of all the reps on here and was wondering....

is the camera flashes bad for their eyes???

i know with SLRs you an redirect it but as for my self and many others on here that only have compacts was just curious...

ps i hope this doent start a topic that will put people off taking photos. was wondering if to ask or not.

Im not sure, i guess its like with humans, if you take them out of their dark hide and flash a bright light in their eyes is can be very uncomfortable (however this is to do with the dilating of the pupils, you pupils are larger so take in too much light). So, do snakes pupils dilate?

I think it just scares them because mines poops when i use flash.

Mine hardly ever notice when i take pics but i always make sure the room is light enough and that the snake has been out or in the light for a while before i take them

Defiantly, you can realy notice it if you take them out on a sunny day...

I think if you poked them in the eye with the camera flash that would be bad... but apart from that i think its o.k
